  • St. Patrick’s Day essentials. Online retailers and department stores usually discount green clothing, party supplies and jewelry.

  • Vacuum cleaners: Some retailers jump ahead on Spring Cleaning offering deals on Dyson, Shark or other vacuum brands.

April

  • Vacuums. Rolling over from March, spring cleaners begin preparations for that time of the year with savings on vacuums.

  • Tax-themed items. Year after year, retailers and restaurants try to lighten the burden of Tax Day with discounts and freebies on services like paper shredding. Keep an eye out for these around mid-April.

  • Beauty products. Stock up on the products that bring out the best side of you all year round!

May

  • Spring apparel. By May, retailers will discount spring clothing that has already been hanging on racks for a month or two.

  • Furniture. Memorial Day is one of the biggest shopping days for furniture and home decor discounts from big-box stores.

  • Small kitchen appliances. Great time to buy small kitchen appliances, such as coffee makers and blenders.

June

  • Other semiannual sales. Stores take this time to heavily discount the first-half products to make room for the newly released second-half products.

  • Gym memberships. "Sun's out, guns out". More people are on vacation than in the gym during summer time. Look for gyms offering summer promotions to level traffic.

  • Tools and other dad gifts. Father's Day is a great time to shop for power tools, outdoor gear, and men's clothing.

July

  • Summer apparel. Summer sales on clothing increasing as summer time decreases. Good time to snag a few deals you can still wear before fall approaches.

  • Personal electronics on Prime Day. Amazon Prime day is Black Friday in July. It's also a motivator for competitors to offer extra discounts during the month.

  • School supplies. Avoid the rush and welcome the savings as retailers start pushing discounts on back to school supplies.

August

  • Back-to-school supplies. Rolling in from July, some items begin offering larger discounts the closer you get to school starting. Last call shoppers may have a good opportunity to snag extra savings (while supplies last).

  • Backyard products. Ride out the end of summer with a big deal on lawn mowers and other seasonal outdoor equipment, like a grill.

  • Swimsuits. Good time to add to your swimsuit collection for next summer (or replace older ones).

September

  • Mattresses. Labor Day brings in great mattress sales. Expect deals from department stores and mattress centers, usually as a part of Labor Day promotions.

  • iPhones. September is often the time when Apple announces its latest iPhone lineup and other products, followed by a drop in prices on the models that have been around awhile.

  • Appliances. Expect a series of blowout deals in the week leading up to Labor Day, including promotions on appliances big and small.

October

  • Outdoor furniture. Expect deals on patio furniture and outdoor living products entering the colder months of the year.

  • Vehicles — Dealerships typically start putting their cars on sale in October, and you’ll find the best prices on cars from October through December as the newer models are coming in for the next year.

  • Candy. Grab great deals on candy during Halloween sales. Or get clearance candy at 50-90% off after Halloween!

November

  • Electronics. Gadgets like TVs, tablets and laptops take center stage during Black Friday sales. Look for discounts on headphones, smart speakers and activity trackers, too.
